Eugenia Polizzi is a Researcher at the CNR-ISTC, and member of the Laboratory of Agent Based Social Simulation. She received her PhD in Ethology and Animal Behavior from the Liverpool John Mores University in 2010. Her research focuses on the study of social dynamics (e.g., cooperation, conflict management strategies) and on those cognitive mechanisms that underlie their emergence and diffusion. Her research combines different methodologies such as observations of spontaneous social behavior, controlled lab experiments and social network analysis, aimed at capturing the complexity underlying social phenomena. In the past years she translated such research activity in support of policy-making activity, working at the Joint Research Center of the European Commission by promoting the application of behavioral insights in EU policies. She has been involved in several interdisciplinary European projects and her research activity has received the interest from both the scientific and policy-makers community, leading to the publication of numerous scientific articles in international journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings. She is also currently the PI of the CNR-ISTC unit in H2020 HumanE-AI-Net project (2020-2023), which aims to develop a robust, trustworthy AI capable of “understanding” humans, adapting to complex real-world environments, and appropriately interacting in complex social settings.
The interdisciplinarity of my work has led me to successfully bridge together different disciplines and scientific approaches, ranging from non-human primate research, to behavioural science and policy making activity
