Major field of interest are deployment of satellite sensors for environmental applications, field surveys for CAL/VAL operations, field spectro-radiometric and remote sensing investigations of snow/ice surfaces in polar regions. He has been appointed as:

Head of the Polar Unit of CNR-Dept. Earth and Environment (DTA).

Head of the Secretariat of the planning and coordination of the technical-scientific activity of DTA.

Head of the project “Integrated Infrastructure for Earth Observation from aerial platform”

President of the Italian Association of Remote Sensing (2002-2010).

Referee of national and international scientific journals.

Member of the steering board of the Foresight Project of CNR.

My best professional achievement:

One the first planetary geologists in Italy. Having introduced field spectro-radiometry to study the physical structure of snow cover.

My best personal achievement:

Family life. My students always found a job.
